Unite Services was born from my own journey as a Ghanaian living in the United Kingdom.
Like many people in the diaspora, owning a home in Ghana was more than an investment — it was a dream. It represented family, culture, security and a place to always call home. But the reality of managing that property from thousands of miles away was very different.
Although I travel to Ghana once, sometimes twice a year, I spend only around two months there in total. For the remaining months, my property sat empty.
Over time, I realised that an unoccupied home doesn't simply stay the same — it slowly deteriorates. Taps seize from lack of use. Pipes can dry out or develop leaks. Dust builds up in every room. Mould and damp begin to appear. Air conditioners stop performing efficiently, appliances deteriorate, pests find their way inside, gardens become overgrown, and small maintenance issues quickly become expensive repairs.
Every trip back to Ghana seemed to begin with fixing problems instead of enjoying my home.
That was the moment everything changed.
I asked myself: why should my property sit empty when it could be generating income, staying occupied, and being professionally cared for all year round?
If I was facing these challenges, thousands of other diaspora property owners were experiencing exactly the same thing.
So I created Unite Services.
